How Bramble & Wild started!

Day two for #marchmeetthemaker is “how you started.” – I’ll try not to bore you, apologies in advance for length! 🙈
Ten years ago, as someone heading to uni for lack of anything better to do, it was a eureka moment when I finally found something I thoroughly enjoyed… I started an evening course in floral design. Cue university place cancellation, an apprenticeship in floristry and meeting the amazing @interiorsandflowers who has always been my floral role model.
Three years later, I opened my shop, aged 21 at 13 Catherine Hill, which is just a stones throw (or roll should I say,) down the hill to our current home at no.4. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have some amazing people behind me. From Sharon at the florist who took me in and showed me how beautiful floristry could be, to Gavin who let me take on the first shop premises, as inexperienced as I was. From my parents, ever supportive and willing to refit a shop at a moments notice (read whim,) to my husband who I met just days after my very first floristry class, who let me bore him to death talking about my latest hideous creation of carnations and chrysanthemums. (Floral design has come a reeeally long way in 10 years, ok?!) Lastly, none of it would be doable without the incredible team I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by. People I’m very happy to call friends as well as co-workers. 💚

Frome Independent cancelled due to bad weather

We are very sorry to announce that due to the predicted severe weather conditions, including gale force winds, we must cancel The Frome Independent on Sunday 3rd March.

We have consulted with the Met Office and have been advised that the predicted wind speeds for tomorrow, with ” Storm Freya” paying a visit to the area bringing gusts of up to 51mph, would make it dangerous for the market to take place.

We are really sad to be in this position – particularly given the amazing spring weather of the past week – and know that this will be very disappointing news for everyone who was looking forward to attending on Sunday. Ultimately the safety of our staff, traders, and visitors is paramount.

Traders, shops and team members have all been contacted by email, but please get in touch on if you have not heard from us or have any further questions.

Visitors! If you’re already on your way to Frome for the weekend, or are planning to brave the wind and rain, please do pay a visit to our town’s wonderful independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

Our next market will be Sunday 7th April. We hope to see you there.
